La stagione della Football Conference 1987-88 (nota come GM Vauxhall Conference per motivi di sponsorizzazione) è stata la nona stagione della Football Conference .

Panoramica

Lincoln City , che era stato retrocesso alla Conference un anno prima nella prima stagione di promozione automatica e retrocessione tra la Conference e la Quarta Divisione della Football League, ha vinto il titolo della Conference per rivendicare il proprio posto nella Football League , dove hanno sostituito l'ultimo posto nella quarta divisione del club Newport County .

La stagione è stata caratterizzata da un cambio di regola sperimentale, in base al quale nessun attaccante poteva essere in fuorigioco direttamente da un calcio di punizione. Il cambiamento non è stato considerato un successo, poiché la squadra in attacco ha invariabilmente riempito l'area da sei yard per qualsiasi calcio di punizione (e aveva diversi giocatori davanti al portiere avversario). L'esperimento è stato rapidamente abbandonato.
